Mr. George Sit is appointed  as  Head of Litigation at Ma & Company Solicitors starting May 2024.  Mr. Sit’s background is in litigation with 30 years of experience working with clients on both commercial and civil litigation matters.

George obtained a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.   He was admitted as a Solicitor in Australia in 1993, and also in England and Wales, and Hong Kong in 1994.  George is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

George has 30 years of practical experience as a litigator.  After started off in the tax department of one of the “Big Four” accounting firms (then “Big Six”) upon university graduation, he moved on to practice law and focus his legal practice on civil and commercial litigation.   He  has acquired extensive legal experience practicing law in both Australia and Hong Kong in established local and U.S. firms.  Being a competent and experienced litigation lawyer, George has expertise in specific practice areas which enable him to provide tailored legal advice and effective representation of his clients’ cases in court. 

Mr. George Sit’s sophisticated litigation practice areas include the following:

• Representing both local and international clients in complex civil litigation (and arbitration), involving different types of commercial disputes, shareholders disputes, and related proceedings including applications for Mareva injunction, Anton Piller order, and recovery matters;

• Representing both petitioners and respondents in contested winding up petitions;

• Representing clients in contested matrimonial proceedings, and related ancillary matters and recovery;

• Advising medical practitioners on medicolegal matters, and defending hospitals/medical practitioners in medical negligence and malpractice claims (on instructions of indemnity insurers);

• Representing both claimants/respondents in personal injuries claims;

• Representing financial institutions and brokerage houses, as well as individuals, in claims relating to financial instruments;

• Representing clients in Civil and Administrative Tribunals;

• Representing clients in different types of settlement negotiations and mediation.
